Katelyn & Zack’s Love Story » Chattanooga Engagement Photographer

Zack and Katelyn hired me on a Friday.  But since they were about to head back out of town to their college in Arkansas, we decided to do their engagement session 2 days later on Sunday!   So this is kinda embarrassing but for about 30 minutes I called Katelyn by the wrong name.  I was calling her Lindsey.  Do NOT hold that against me!  When I figured it out, I was mortified, of course.  But they thought it was funny and we all basically made fun of my mistake for the rest of their session.

So basically, I love this couple.  They’re fantastic together and it really shows in their photos!

But to go along with their engagement session, I want to also share with you their love story!  It’s so much more fun to actually know the stories behind the connection, right?

Katelyn: “Zack and I originally met when I was 15 and he was 16. We met at Uplift, a church camp, at Harding University. We were in the same small group section with a bunch of our friends. The leader of our group told us to get into smaller groups and get to know each other. Zack and I were in the same group and when it was time to switch to another group we didn’t. We stayed in the same group so we could keep talking to each other.  :)”

“Uplift eventually had to come to an end so Zack asked me for my number but at that time I didn’t have a phone so I gave him my email. When this happened he thought I am never going to hear from her again. We ended up emailing a few times and then I got his number from a mutual friend.”

“On September 27, 2007, Zack called me and said, “Everyone keeps asking me if you are my girlfriend and I do not know what to say to them, so will you be my girlfriend?” Of course I said yes and from that moment on I would have the best friend any girl could have. ”

“Zack lived in Tennessee, and I lived in Florida so we had a long distance relationship for 2 1/2 years. We were very fortunate (extremely fortunate) to have parents who let us fly to see each other. Then Zack graduated from high school and went to Harding University, which is the school where we first met. A year later arrived and it was the first time that we could see each other every day and spend genuine time together!”

“Fast forward a few years and on April 27th, 2013 Zack proposed to me. The proposal was perfect. We were standing in front of a chapel, on a hill in Malibu, California looking over the Pacific Ocean!”

“One of my favorite attributes of Zack is his intelligence. Zack could talk to any person about any topic. Zack knows about cars, technology, politics, fashion, religion and the list could go on and on. He impresses me all the time with how knowledgeable he is.”

“Zack keeps me up to date on everything and I love it. He started an internship this summer at the Center for Sports Medicine and the CEO called him a natural. There is no doubt in my mind that Zack is a natural at his internship. He picks up on information so quickly and once he understands it he runs with it.”

“I love how I can ask Zack a question about anything and he knows what I am talking about and will explain it to me. If there is something that he does not completely understand he will look it up and read about it. When I see Zack helping people with new information or explaining it to them I sit back and fall more in love with him. (I know, cheesy)”

“I love family. Family has always been a huge part of my life and is very important to me. That being said I wanted to marry someone who appreciates family just as much as I do. Zack is that person. I admire the way that he talks about our future family. We both talk about what we what to name our kids, how we want to dress them, how we want to decorate their rooms, and especially how we want to raise them. I know that Zack is going to take care of our children and me. He is going to always want the best for them and will always be there for them. Most importantly I know that Zack is going to be that dad that my dad was to me.”

Thanks Zack and Katelyn for being just an awesome couple!  I loved spending time with you, hearing your love story and sharing a bunch of laughter during our session.  Good times!!!

What other’s are saying

Something subtle, yet powerful, happens when I look at Bo. There’s an energy present that is very real and felt only between the two of us. It is the connection we have with each other, embodying all that brought us together and the love we share. I imagine that most people assume it’s there, but no one actually looks for it. Except you. Instead of taking pictures of the two of us, you capture what is between us. It is a profound gift that you have, Rich, to catch meaning in a glance or love in a touch. Thank you so much for sharing your gift with us. - Rebekah Hughes
