I know I already told some of their story on their engagement session but many of you didn’t see it over there. So I thought I’d put it here as well to give you some insights into their love story!
Rich: What did you first notice about each other?
Sarah: When I first met Daniel, I thought he was good looking and funny. I also thought he had bad taste in shoes! haha.
Daniel: Sarah is a very joyful person, so the first thing I noticed was how happy she was. I wanted to be around that joy.
Rich: Why did you fall in love with Daniel?
Sarah: I fell in love with Daniel because he was an answer to prayer. I had prayed specifically for God to impress on me specific traits that I should look for in my future husband, and He showed me generosity, boldness, humility, empathy, and some others. Daniel very obviously filled these traits, especially the ones that I had never before thought of praying.
Commitment is something that I have had issues with for a while. Daniel told me from the beginning that it was my choice to be with him, that he was not going to try to convince me why we should be together. Just that simple gesture let me know that I had freedom to choose him, not that I was being pressured into a relationship by him or anyone else. When he met my family I knew that he was the one I was going to marry. My mom is so hard to please, and she loved him. The rest of my family did, too. The support I received from them gave me more confidence to let my heart fall a little more.
Daniel is the only person that I can spend all day with and not get tired of. I love that we just “do life” together. I don’t care what we are doing; because I’m with him its fun. He makes me laugh and he is the ONLY person that I can cry in front of without being embarrassed. Most of all, I fell in love with his heart. He has SUCH a good heart. He is a good man. I am so blessed to be able to call him my future husband.
As a groomsman, you take no risks to keep the groom safe while another is pinning boutonnière on:
Rich: What stands out the most about the moment you proposed / were proposed to?
Daniel: I remember how happy she was when I asked her, and how surprised she was. It’s hard to surprise her.
Sarah: Probably how much thought Daniel had put into organizing everything. His friends were really involved and he had planned the day so I wouldn’t suspect anything. I think the fact that he choked up stood out to me the most because I had never seen him cry before. It was dark out so I still really haven’t “seen” him cry, but you get what I mean. It showed me that the moment was very important to him and that what he was saying was very genuine.
Rich: What is most important to Sarah?
Daniel: Family, Friends, and her relationship with God.
Look at this beautiful gown of Sarah’s!
Rich: What your favorite physical feature of your fiancé and why?
Daniel: Definitely her eyes. She has some beautiful hazelnut eyes. Sometimes if the light is right you can see a ton of tiny galaxies in there. (I know its cheesy)
Sarah: Definitely his eyes. They are very kind, and have a childlike gleam in them, like mischievous, curious, and happy. They calm me down when I am anxious and I could look into them for probably like 3 minutes until it would be weird, which is a long time if you think about it. 😉
Also his shoulders. My my my.
Rich: Describe your memories around the moment you first realized your fiancé was more special to you than a typical friend.
Daniel: We were at her home in Wisconsin and one night we were up late talking about life, and I made a joke about what she would say if I asked her to marry me right then…and she said “I would say yes” dead face serious. That is when I knew I loved her. I just needed to feel commitment from her side.
Sarah: We were at a friends’ house up north for a weekend. I noticed that Daniel was very responsible – he was always the last one out of the house to make sure all the lights were off, doors locked, etc. There was a baby there, and *shocker* he was good with the baby, so that’s an obvious one haha. He also surprised me by being very affirming (words of affirmation are one of my top love languages). The group of us were hanging out and going around saying what we appreciate most about one another. Daniel said some very sweet things about me, and I noticed. He also gave me a bomb foot massage, which I later found out that he had purposely given the other girls foot massages so that it wouldn’t seem weird if he gave me one. That’s commitment right there!
Rich: Recount a moment your partner surprised you in a way that made you love them more.
Sarah: I was home in Wisconsin for the summer, and it was the first long period of time that Daniel and I had been apart since we had started dating. He had told me he was coming to visit in a few weeks, so I was excited but the time was passing so slowly. One day I was working at a friends house, and we had gone to eat lunch. They had told me they needed to pick up a family friend, Jean, from the airport, and if I minded going with them so they didn’t need to stop home first. I knew who Jean was and I said I didn’t mind. We went to the airport, and Gail went in to look for Jean. As I was sitting in the car, I saw this couple saying goodbye, and the girl was crying. It brought out the feels so I texted Daniel, “I miss you, I wish you were here.” All of a sudden, I looked up and DANIEL WAS LOOKING INTO MY WINDOW! I was so surprised!!! I got out of the car and hugged him and I was shaking because I had absolutely no idea he was coming two weeks early! It was the best surprise ever.
Rich: Why did you fall in love with Sarah?
Daniel: Because I am her second priority to God, because we communicate really well, and we have the same values, and all those together make her the most beautiful woman in the world to me.
Rich: What’s one endearing thing about Daniel only someone who know them very well would know?
Sarah: Daniel is an open book, so there aren’t very many parts of him that are hidden from people. Something that only his close friends and family know is that he leaves his laundry in the dryer for YEARS. Something that is probably more endearing that that (hard to imagine, I know) is that he has to have some type of chip or something crunchy with his meals. If there isn’t anything crunchy, the meal isn’t complete!
